What Happened to the ATV X-treme Challenge? |
|
|
The X-treme challenge became to costly to continue to erect and tear down in the locateion ithad been at. The club was hopeful that it could be built permenantly in the 20 acre property near the drag strip. This was recently discounted as the land is too low and considered wet lands. Until we can find a suitable local location for the event we are suspending it. We are sorry for this inconvienance but have no other choice at this time.
The X-treme Challenge is the most exciting event in the range of ATV
events. The course is constructed with hills, water holes, hairpin
turns, mud obstacles, logs and rocks. Two stock ATV’s of the same
class run head to head. They start in separate 12 foot lanes. After
passing the first water hole the lanes are eliminated and it is an all
out race. The race ends when the machines reach the last obstacle, a
large hill. They must climb the hill and drop to the other side and
come to a complete stop. The (Stop Box) has an orange cone at the end
of it. On the cone rests a tennis ball. If the ATV hits the cone and
the Tennis Ball drops off the ATV is eliminated. This creates a lot of
excitement because even though one machine may get out in front the
second must continue because the first machine could be eliminated in
the stop box. |
